Winds will be light and variable for a few days as former tropical cyclone Norman tracks away from the state to the north and blocks the trade wind flow. The light winds will result in afternoon clouds and interior showers with clearing in the evening through Tuesday.
The rest of the forecast period is taken up by possible effects from Hurricane Olivia, still far to the east of the islands. The latest forecast calls for Olivia to move quickly through the state as a tropical storm in the middle of next week. Use the weekend to prepare for tropical storm conditions, including strong winds and heavy rain.
A High Surf Advisory will remain posted overnight for east-facing shores as a swell from Norman fades away. Surf will fall below advisory levels by sunrise Sunday. North and west shores will have waist to chest-high waves at best, with very small surf out west.
