A few storm-related thoughts heading into this milder, long weekend… There was certainly major damage left behind by Hurricane Lane. And some might suggest that we got off better than expected. But the next storm, whenever it is, has no relationship to Lane- in size, scope, direction, duration, velocity, or moisture. So to be unprepared based on Lane or previous storms could be a serious mistake. So you're stocked with some extra water, ramen, wooden boards, and tuna; it could have been a lot worse, and still might be the next time.
Many were frustrated by long lines, delays, price increases, and scarcity at some stores leading up to Hurricane Lane. I found a local supermarket with no lines, plenty of water, tuna, and other non-perishable items about 36-hours before the heaviest rain impact. Next time, you might try going to stores where everyone isn't going, to alleviate some of the sincere angst.
