MANOA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A special blessing took place Wednesday for a new student housing complex near Manoa.
Hale Mahana Collegiate Apartments is located at the King Street and University Avenue intersection.
It's a 14-story tower that offers 191 residential apartments reserved for students currently enrolled in college.
Each apartment comes fully furnished and students have access to a fitness center, rooftop terrace, community kitchens and social areas. It's a privately owned building that seeks to alleviate the desperate need for off-campus student housing on Oahu.
"We are very pleased to be partnering with EdR Collegiate Housing to bring quality, safe and modern housing options to students at the many college and university campuses in Honolulu," said Paul Menzies, Laconia's chief executive officer.
"Collegiate housing is essential for those pursuing higher education and the benefit will be felt for generations to come. We are really proud of this project," Menzies added.
Students have the option to chose from one to four bedroom layouts. Rent starts at $1,000 a month.
Move-in day for students is expected later this month.
