CHINATOWN (HawaiiNewsNow) - There will be several scheduled power outages and lane closures in the Chinatown area as Hawaiian Electric Company crews upgrade the electrical distribution system this week.
The scheduled outages will be from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday and from 7 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. on Friday.
About a dozen customers will be affected by the outages on Monday as crews replace utility poles, transformers, and conductors, as well as string new power lines.
HECO officials say that they have also notified about 100 businesses and 50 residents who will be affected by the Thursday and Friday outages.
The purpose of the upgrades are to improve service reliability and provide the capacity for future growth in the area, according to officials. Those looking for more information can click here.
Any residents in the area who have not received notification by phone, email or mail will not be affected by the outages.
