Brush fire in Maili extinguished after burning 5 acres

All westbound lanes of Farrington Hwy closed as HFD battles Maili brushfire

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu firefighters have extinguished a brush fire that scorched five acres in Maili Friday night.

HFD says crews were dispatched just after 7:45 p.m. The department says they responded with eight units staffed with 21 personnel.

The fire was located on the mauka side of Farrington Highway, and quickly spread up the hillside.

At one point, both westbound lanes of the highway were closed in the area.

Just before 11 p.m., the fire was contained.

Fire officials say no homes were threatened and no injuries were reported.

The cause is not yet known.
