HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Now's the time to prepare.
That's the message from city and state emergency planners as they continue to track Hurricane Hector in the Eastern Pacific.
"Just as the city is going through its checklist ahead of any possible impact from Hurricane Hector, I'm asking Oahu residents and visitors do the same," Mayor Kirk Caldwell said, in a news release.
"Now is the time to make sure your 14-day hurricane kit is fully stocked, and to check your home for any loose items or debris that could become projectiles during windy conditions."
The city said ahead of the storm, crews are checking streams and channels for possible blockages.
The city Department of Emergency Management is also working with the visitor industry to make sure tourists are prepared.
