2 Korean visitors dead after apparent drownings off Maui

KIHEI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Two Korean visitors died Thursday after they apparently drowned in waters off Maui, authorities said.

Firefighters responded to Keawakapu Beach about 4:50 p.m. after the two were found floating face down just offshore.

When rescuers arrived, bystanders were already performing CPR.

The man, 40, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials.

Paramedics transported the 37-year-old woman to Maui Memorial Hospital in critical condition, where she later died.

The victims' names have not yet been released.
