MOLOKAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Maui firefighters rescued a woman on Thursday afternoon after she fell 150 feet off of a Molokai trail.
Around 1:50 p.m. MFD responded to reports of a woman missing near Kalaupapa Lookout in Palaau State Park. A friend reported the incident after finding her dog and vehicle parked near the lookout, with no sign of the woman.
The woman's dog led rescuers straight to a location on the trail where the 59-year-old victim could be seen 150 feet down a very steep incline.
When rescuers found her, the woman was unable to move or respond to verbal communication. Fire crews were able to use a rope rescue system to bring the victim back up the trail.
The Molokai resident sustained multiple injuries from the fall, but was alert and well-oriented as she was being taken to Molokai General Hospital, according to officials.
