Hawaii inline hockey teams bring home gold at AAU Junior Olympics

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA (HawaiiNewsNow) - A pair of Hawaii inline hockey teams have dethroned some of the best squads across North America.

Team Hawaii who took home the gold medal in the 12 and 18 and under divisions at the

Competing at the AAU Junior Olympics for inline hockey in Corona, California, Team Hawaii 12u team beat Team USA West by a score of 5-3 in the championship game.

Royal Kekuewa scored two goals, including the game winner, for the team from the Kapolei Inline Hockey League (KIHA).

In the 18u division, Hawaii knocked off perennial power Team Canada 3-2 in overtime. Lance Hamilton and Travis Eichner led Team Hawaii in scoring, with 7 points, and goaltender Austin Harder finished the tournament with an unbeaten 5-0 record.

Hawaii will play host to the 2019 AAU Junior Olympics in Kapolei next July.
