WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu police have closed several lanes near Kalakaua Avenue due to a contractor-damaged water line on Thursday.

Board of Water Supply crews are repairing the damaged line on the makai side of the roadway between Seaside Ave. and Dukes Lane. As BWS crews repair the line, two makai lanes and one bike lane in the area will be closed.

The Waikiki Beachcomber hotel and Center of Waikiki buildings will be without water for the duration of the repair, which is expected to continue into Friday.

The contractor responsible for damaging the line was working on a project that was not related to BWS, according to officials.
