HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - AlohaCare launched its new $5 million community investment program on Thursday, making a commitment toward improving the health of Hawaii residents.
The program, called Waiwai Ola, will partner with community groups that aim to provide better patient outcomes, lower costs, and improved patient and provider experiences in the islands.
The nonprofit health plan is seeking program applicants who have sustainable ideas that would become long term solutions in Hawaii communities.
The program's aim is to aid in the development of new ideas for primary care in Hawaii. Community organizations can sign up here, and applications are due by July 31st.
The initiative's goals include behavioral health integration, looking at the impact of housing, work and food security on health, and helping people with chronic illnesses stay out of the hospital.
