HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

We’ve gotten more than 30,000 arrivals every day but one since June began. Extrapolating from that, we went over 700,000 June arrivals on Friday morning, and topped 800,000 last night. Every day, Honolulu airport alone welcomes more visitors than Stonehenge did on the summer solstice. But Big Island arrivals are now seeing the impact of lava cancellations.

Fri June 15 3,236 -20%
Sat June 16 3,411 -3%
Sun June 17 3,530 -44%
Mon June 18 3,626 -13%
Tue June 19 4,168 -11%
Wed June 20 2,991 -11%
Thu June 21 3,323 -10%

In the first half of June arrivals most days came in higher than the same day last year. So now we’re seeing what we saw on Kauai – not so many cancellations AT FIRST – hundreds more later.
