HAWAII KAI, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Ocean safety lifeguards rescued two young women in waters near Halona Blowhole on Saturday.
Both women, aged 18 and 19, were standing on a rocky ledge in a restricted area when a wave came crashed onto the rocks, knocking them into the water. A witness immediately called 911 while another jumped into the water to comfort the women.
Lifeguards rescued the injured victims around 2 p.m. and brought them to Sandy Beach on a rescue water craft.
Both women were then transported by paramedics to the emergency room in serious condition, with several injuries and abrasions to their bodies from the fall. Ocean Safety officials say that surf was rough at the time with 6 to 10 foot faces.
