KEALIA, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Rescuers from the Kauai Fire Department rescued a man on an hiking trail near Kapaa Thursday afternoon.
Fire officials say they airlifted a 36-year-old Kapaa man from the Ho'opi'i Falls area shortly after 12:30 p.m.
They say the man fell out of a tree, about 35 feet above the stream bank, and onto the rocks below.
When crews found him, rescuers say he had injuries to his leg and arm. Good Samaritans were by his side.
Due to the rough terrain, KFD utilized the Air 1 rescue chopper to lift him to a nearby landing zone.
He was turned over to paramedics who transported him to Wilcox Memorial Hospital.
