HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - In her NCAA Nationals debut, Rainbow Wahine high jumper Lily Lowe finished 18th during Saturday's NCAA Outdoor National Championships.
Lowe reached the 5-8 mark (1.73m) against the nation's best high jump field while battling poor weather. On her final jump of the next height at 5-10 (1.78m), Lowe's heel clipped the bar and knocked her out of contention.
"A great year of jumping for Lily," first-year head coach Tim Boyce said in a statement. "I couldn't be more proud of her. Great attempts at 5-10 on a challenging conditions today. The best is yet to come for her. There was big progress for her this season and we're excited to see what the future holds for her."
UT Arlington junior Alexus Henry won the event after reaching 5-11.5 (1.82m).
Lowe earned the Big West Championship and also won the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Indoor title this season.
