FRESNO, CALIFORNIA (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Warrior baseball team left it late, but ultimately got the win against Fresno State last night on the road, 8-5.
Hawaii (25-19) was able to go 2-0 in its against Fresno State (27-23), courtesy of late-game heroics from senior left fielder Johnny Weeks who delivered with a ground-rule RBI double in the top of the ninth to score Dylan Vchulek and break the tie.
With the Warriors back in front, the 'Bows scored two more on Fresno State's first error of the series, a comfortable final margin at 8-5.
Starter Brody Hagel-Pitt pitched a career-high 5.1 innings, surrendering six hits and one walk.
With their third consecutive win, the Warriors return to Bob Bennett Stadium today for the finale with the Bulldogs. First pitch is set for 10:05 a.m. HT.
