HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Toyota Hawaii and Mothers Against Drunk Driving Hawaii (MADD Hawaii) yesterday honored nine Honolulu Police Department (HPD) officers and a Honolulu deputy prosecuting attorney for their exemplary efforts in combating drunk or drugged driving. Toyota Hawaii has sponsored and partnered with MADD Hawaii since 2012 to host statewide annual Law Enforcement recognition events to honor police and prosecutors including those on Hawaii Island, Kauai and Maui.
"These Law Enforcement recognition events underscore the close relationship between MADD and law enforcement — police and prosecutors. They are MADD's most critical allies in the fight against drunk driving. We are deeply grateful to Toyota Hawaii for its enthusiastic sponsorship," said MADD Hawaii's chairperson of Victim Services, Theresa Paulette.
"There is never an excuse to get behind the wheel intoxicated or impaired," said Glenn Inouye, senior vice president of Servco, representing all Toyota Hawaii dealers. "We're honored to partner with MADD Hawaii to raise awareness about the critical need to stop impaired driving and salute our police officers who have saved lives in this effort."
Law Enforcement recognition events will be held May 1 in Kona, May 2 in Hilo, May 3 in Kahului and May 4 in Lihue.
