WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) - City officials in Honolulu announced Wednesday that they have selected Topgolf – the popular mainland-based company known for mixing golf with entertainment – to 'enhance and upgrade' the driving range at the Ala Wai Golf Course.
Similar Topgolf locations in places like Las Vegas feature a multi-level driving range, along with dining and gaming options. The proposed Hawaii Topgolf location will have a four-story driving range, the city says.
The city says the proposed Topgolf location will be located on the driving range's existing footprint.
"By bringing Topgolf to the Ala Wai Golf Course in a public/private partnership, we're able to offer a new experience for seasoned golfers as well as people who may have never picked up a club," said Mayor Kirk Caldwell.
A release from the city about the planned construction of the facility states it will include 108 hitting bays, patent protected driving range technology, food and beverage operations, meeting and event spaces, indoor and outdoor keiki play areas and a rooftop lanai.
