Every year, May 1 is celebrated as Lei Day in Hawaii.
Festivities are held throughout the islands with a focus on the craft of lei making.
One of the longest-running celebrations is held at Kapiolani Park. The 91st annual Lei Day Celebration is put on buy the City and County of Honolulu, and features a Lei Queen and her court, a lei contest and other entertainment.

Throughout May, schools across Hawaii will hold May Day assemblies.
