NWS meteorologist explains how Kauai rainfall could set national record

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The torrential rain that devastated parts of Kauai earlier this month could break a national record.

Preliminary data shows that the north shore of Kauai got nearly 50 inches of rainfall during the 24-hour period between April 14 and April 15.

If certified, the amount could break the national record for the most rainfall in a 24-hour period.

Bob Ballard from the National Weather Service was on Sunrise to explain what this all means.
