HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Currently on a four-fight win streak, UFC middleweight and Hawaii native Brad Tavares is joining his fellow local fighters -- Max Holloway, Yancy Medeiros and Rachael Ostovich -- in Las Vegas this July for International Fight Week.
While Holloway and Medeiros will fight at UFC 226 on July 7th, Tavares will join Ostovich on the Ultimate Fighter Finale card the night before on July 6th when he takes on rising prospect Israel Adesanya in the main event of the evening.
Adesanya, one of the more outspoken 185-pound fighters in the UFC, is being promoted as the next big thing in the division, but Tavares wants to put an end to the hype train and secure his position as a top-flight contender.
Now ranked No. 10 in the division, Tavares hasn't loss since 2015 when he fell to the current champion Robert Whittaker and will look to add Adesanya as his latest victim this summer.
