Sand 'Bows sweep CSUB to open Big West Tournament

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Wahine extended their record setting winning streak to 28 straight after opening the Big West tournament with a sweep of Cal State Bakersfield on Friday afternoon.

Jeff Hall's top-seeded Sand 'Bows earned a bye in Friday's first round before taking on CSUB. That's when the 'Bows made quick work of the Roadrunners. Hawaii swept all five matches, and each pair needed just two frames to seal their victories. All of U. H.'s pairs earned at least one double-digit set win en route to taking the match.

The Big West tournament will continue tomorrow with the team championship. The Sand 'Bows are looking to earn their third consecutive conference crown this season. Claiming the cup would also earn them an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament.

Hawaii resumes play tomorrow morning at Queen's Beach. Their opponent and the time of their first match has yet to be determined.
