Manhunt underway for man accused of kidnapping, raping teen in Kalama Valley

OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A manhunt is underway for a man accused of kidnapping a teenager at gunpoint and raping her in Kalama Valley on Wednesday afternoon.

It happened on Mokuhano Street in Kalama Valley around 2 p.m.

The 16-year-old victim told Honolulu police that a man pulled her into a white cargo van with heavily-tinted windows, put a gun to her head, and sexually assaulted her. The victim told HPD that she was able to escape after the van stopped.

The victim was later taken to the hospital.

It's unclear what her condition is or whether she has been treated and released, but police sources say she was traumatized by the incident.

Police are working with the victim, but in the meantime, they're actively searching for a suspect who matches the description they were told.

Officials say the teen did not know or recognize the man.

Anyone with tips or information on the suspect is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 808-955-8300.
