Rainbow Warriors surrender lead to Cal State Fullerton in 6-3 loss

FULLERTON, CALIF. (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The Rainbow Warrior baseball team dropped Game 1 of a crucial Big West Conference series against Cal State Fullerton today, 6-3.

Hawaii (20-14, 6-4 BWC) couldn’t hold off Cal State Fullerton (18-18, 5-2 BWC) as the Warriors desperately tried to hang on to a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning, only to see Titans come back and take the lead, courtesy of a Daniel Cope home run in the seventh.

Jackson Rees (3-1) took the loss for Hawaii on 4.1 innings pitched, striking out five with three walks.

With the win, Cal State Fullerton edges ahead of the ‘Bows for the lead in the Big West standings. The two sides will return to action on Saturday at Goodwin Field, with first pitch set for 3:00 p.m. HT.
