Hawaii Meals on Wheels is seeing higher demand than ever for meal deliveries.
Just last year, more than 105,730 meals were delivered. That's 8,000 meals more compared to the year before.
And this year, the number of meals served to seniors and others who are homebound is projected to reach more than 130,000.
In an effort to address this growing need, First Insurance Company of Hawaii has launched a social media campaign named #MalamaOurKupuna to raise $20,000 for Hawaii Meals on Wheels.
For every social media user who participates, First Insurance will donate $10 to Hawaii Meals on Wheels.
The campaign runs through Sept. 20.
Hawaii Meals on Wheels says it strives to provide greater peace of mind and social connection for seniors and their families. Volunteers also serve as advocates, checking to make sure seniors are doing well and make referrals to other agencies for support.
