HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - "Hawaii Five-0" fans, rejoice! The hit CBS show has been renewed for a ninth season, the network announced on Wednesday.

"Hawaii Five-0" is one of several series returning to CBS for the 2018 to 2019 season, including "MacGyver," "Blue Bloods" and "NCIS: Los Angeles."

Although the show lost two of its main stars, Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park, over a contract dispute last year, the series has maintained its popularity since then.

There was also some speculation that Alex O'Loughlin, who plays Steve McGarrett, would turn in his gun and badge once his contract ended after season eight. But he recently said in an interview that he would be open to continuing on.

"Hawaii Five-0" airs Friday nights on KGMB.

The original series, starring Jack Lord as Steve McGarrett, ran for 12 seasons from 1968 until 1980.
