HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - On Tuesday, family members of the late Sen. Daniel Akaka announced the schedule information for his memorial service.
Akaka's memorial service events will take place from May 18 to May 21, with several events open to the public.
After being escorted in by military honor guards, the late senator's casket will be at the State Capitol Rotunda from 10 a.m. on May 18 to 10 a.m. May 19.
A brief prayer service with music will be held at the rotunda at 6 p.m. on the 18.
On May 19, a celebration of life service will be held at Kawaiahao Church and visitation will begin at noon. The 2 p.m. service is open to the public.
A private family burial will take place on May 21 at the National Cemetery of the Pacific in Punchbowl.
Akaka's family asks that visitors do not bring flowers.
