Rainbow Wahine pitcher Dana Thomsen named Big West Softball Pitcher of the Week

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Wahine softball team has had an up-and-down season so far as Big West Conference play got off to a less-than stellar start.

But the 'Bows came on strong this past weekend, highlighted by senior Dana Thomsen who earned her first career Big West Softball Pitcher of the Week honor after firing two consecutive complete game shutouts against Cal Poly this past weekend.

Thomsen posted her third and fourth shutouts of the season, winning 1-0 and 11-0 over the Mustangs. She helped the Wahine to their first conference series sweep since 2015.

The right-hander now has seven career shutouts in her two years as a Rainbow Wahine.

Thomsen improved to 11-10 overall on the season while lowering her ERA to 2.95.  She has tallied 15 complete games in 22 starts.

Thomsen was also named College Sports Madness' Big West Player of the Week and is the first Big West Pitcher or Player of the Week honor any Wahine has received this year.
