HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A name familiar in education circles has been appointed to the Board of Education.
Catherine Payne, chair of the State Public Charter School commission, an educational consultant and former principal at Farrington High, was appointed to the at-large seat on the Board of Education.
She will serve as the new chairwoman of the board, replacing Lance Mizumoto, if confirmed.
The governor also appointed University of Hawaii executive Dwight Takeno to the board. Takeno is the director of administrative services for the UH Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation.
Board member Margaret Cox, meanwhile, was re-appointed.
