WAHIAWA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 35-year-old man was critically injured Tuesday morning after the car he was driving crashed and landed in a Wahiawa coffee farm, Honolulu police said.

Police were called to the scene at the Green World Coffee Farm around 3:15 a.m.

Authorities said the car was driving northbound on Kamehameha Highway when it crossed the center line, hit an embankment and landed in the coffee farm.

The man, who's from Schofield Barracks, was initially transported to Wahiawa General Hospital in critical condition, but was later taken to the Queen's Medical Center trauma center, Emergency Medical Services officials said.

Police said speed and alcohol are factors, but they're still investigating exactly what happened.

Officers initially closed both directions of Kamehameha Highway between Kamananui and Kaukonahua roads. All lanes have since been reopened.
