HFD rescues injured tourist from Koolau Summit Trail

WAIMANALO, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A 20-year-old tourist was airlifted from the Koolau Summit Trail Friday after falling and injuring himself on the popular hike.

The man was hiking the trail when he fell 300 feet below the summit, injuring his leg and scraping his back and shoulders.

Honolulu firefighters made contact with the man at 4:27 p.m. and airlifted him via helicopter to the landing zone at Waimanalo Elementary School.

Paramedics treated him and took him to a local hospital around 4:45 p.m.
