Light and variable winds will persist across the state today, which will allow local afternoon sea breezes and nighttime land breezes.
High in Honolulu will be a sunny 81 degrees. Expect clouds and some pop-up showers to develop over interior sections of the islands this afternoon. Skies should clear after sunset.
A brief period of east to southeast winds is expected by late Thursday, just before southeast to south winds develop ahead of a cold front approaching from the northwest. The front may reach Kauai some time this weekend. Expect widespread rainfall ahead of and along the front from this weekend into early next week, especially on Kauai and to a lesser extent on Oahu.
Surf has dropped along all shores with the next significant swell forecast to arrive along north and west shores late Friday. It will bring waves just below or right at advisory levels.
Surf today will be 4-6 feet east, 3-5 feet north, 2-3 feet south, 1-3 feet west.
