Hawaii police still need help finding this man connected to an attempted murder

BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - Hawaii Island police are renewing their call to the public for help finding 40-year-old Jayse Polaris Lee.

Lee is wanted in connection with a February 9 attempted murder case.

Police say they responded to gunfire and a woman's screams in the Tiki Gardens subdivision in Puna in the early morning hours.

A man seen fleeing the area on a dirt bike pointed a gun and fired towards an officer before running into the bushes. The officer was not injured, nor did they return fire.

The suspect eluded police and has been on the run ever since.

Lee is wanted for questioning in relation to the incident. There is an outstanding warrant for his arrest and for parole violation.

Police say he is considered armed and dangerous. They're asking anyone who sees him or knows of his whereabouts to contact the Police Department's non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311.

Detective Aaron Carvalho may also be contacted at (808) 961-2272 or Aaron.Carvalho@hawaiicounty.gov.
