POIPU, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kauai County will begin relocating the Poipu lifeguard tower on March 27.
The Poipu tower is being moved to make way for the Ocean Safety Bureau's new Nukumoi lifeguard tower. The new tower is slated to be installed between Waiohai Beach and Poipu Beach Park in April.
The relocation, which will move the tower 75 feet east of its current position, is expected to be complete by March 28.
Work to move the tower will start at 7 a.m. on both days, and parts of the area will be blocked off while work is being done as a safety precaution.
The public will still be able to access the beach both days and lifeguard services will continue.
