What's open and closed on Prince Kuhio Day

HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - Prince Kuhio Day, the state holiday honoring one of Hawaii's best-known leaders, is on Monday.

Here's a list of what will be closed in observance of the holiday:


  • State offices
  • City, county offices and all satellite city halls
  • Neal S. Blaisdell Center
  • Public and private schools
  • University of Hawaii
  • Most libraries
  • Open markets
  • Lyon Arboretum
  • Queen Emma Summer Palace

TheBus: Holiday schedule

Parks, municipal golf courses, botanical gardens, and the Honolulu Zoo will be open.

On-street parking: Free, except for the meters on Kalakaua Avenue along Queen Kapiolani Park and metered parking lots.

Traffic: No coning

Trash: Regular pickup

Mail: Regular delivery

City landfills: Open

Traffic lanes will not be coned for contraflow.
