WAILUA, KAUAI (HawaiiNewsNow) - Five squatters living on two state parcels on Kauai were removed Wednesday, officials said.
All five were offered help to find permanent housing, but refused.
The state Department of Land and Natural Resources said four of those removed were living in land behind the former Coco Palms Resort.
No one was cited, and the Kauai Humane Society took custody of five goats that had been tied up on the property.
Meanwhile, at Wailua River State Park, a woman who'd been squatting in the area was removed while her boyfriend was briefly detained when he tried to block the entrance to the camp, state officials said.
