HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Even without the services of forward Mike Thomas, the Rainbow Warrior basketball team was able to pull off the 74-63 victory over Long Beach State tonight at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Led by sophomore Zigmars Raimo's career-high 17 points off the bench, Hawaii (16-10, 7-6 BWC) won its third-straight game and snapped its three-game home losing streak in the process.
Senior forward Mike Thomas missed a second straight game with an unspecified injury but the Warriors were able to rely on its bench for offense, tallying 23 points from its reserves.
Gibson Johnson scored 13 points while Jack Purchase drilled three three-pointers for nine points. Point guard Drew Buggs stepped up to score 10 points while hauling in six rebounds and three assists.
Gabe Levin led the way for LBSU (13-16, 7-6 BWC) with 18 points but couldn't get enough help from his teammates to bring his team within striking distance.
The Warriors will look to extend their winning streak to four games this Saturday against UC Irvine at the Stan Sheriff Center on senior night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., HT.
