MANOA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - From The Friendly Isle to the concrete jungle, students from Molokai High School searched for some artistic inspiration.
The students made a visit to the University of Hawaii at Manoa earlier this week where they received lessons in different types of art, like glass-blowing and silk screen printing.
The six students are working on a major project of their own. Their teacher, Robert Bento, hoped the trip expanded their minds and their horizons.
"I just wanted to expose these kids, who are from a much smaller universe – if that?s what you want to call it – (by) being over here on Oahu. They don't get to see facilities like this," Bento said.
The students hope to design and sculpt a piece of art for the high school before they graduate later this semester. They say the plans have already been drafted and they may take away a new skill or two from the visit.
