HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - It took a career night from Sheriff Drammeh, but the Rainbow Warrior basketball team was able to grind out a 74-69 overtime win over UC Riverside Saturday night on the road.
With the win, Hawaii (15-10, 6-6 BWC) has swept a two-game road trip for the first time this season.
On top of Drammeh's career-high 23-point performance, the Warriors converted a program-record 14 three-pointers on the night, dropping the Highlanders (7-19, 2-10 BWC) to their 10th Big West Conference loss of the season.
Hawaii was without the services of forward Mike Thomas this evening due to injury, but Jack Purchase filled in nicely with 12 points and 10 boards. Drew Buggs added 11 points and seven assists in the victory.
For UC Riverside, Chance Murray led the way with 21 points and an impressive seven steals while Dikymbe Martin chipped in 18 points off the bench.
The Warriors will now return home to take on Long Beach State next Thursday, February 24th at the Stan Sheriff Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m., HT.
