A flash flood watch is in effect statewide until 6 p.m. Monday for an increasing chance of scattered showers, along with heavy rain and thunderstorms through the Presidents Day holiday weekend.
A band of clouds from a trough over Maui brought cloudy and wet conditions to the Big Island and parts of Maui County Saturday. This moisture will move westward over the rest of the island chain as a strong upper level disturbance drops in from the northwest, which will increase moisture and unstable conditions statewide.
A flash flood watch means that conditions are present that could lead to the development of flash flooding. Be prepared to take action if a flash flood warning is issued.
