HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Heavy rains over the island of Oahu has led to a brown water advisory for the entire island, along with closures Wednesday.
The Honolulu Emergency Services Department issued a brown water advisory for the entire island because inclement weather has caused storm water to runoff into coastal waters.
Emergency Services says that flood waters and runoff should be avoided due to possible contaminants such as pesticides, animal fecal matter and other pathogens.
Not all coastal areas may be affected by run off, but City and County officials say, "If the water is brown stay out."
Meanwhile, the Honolulu Zoo and West Loch Golf course have both closed Wednesday because of the downpour. At both venues, heavy rains caused pooling in walkways and on course grounds.
