WAIPAHU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Don't be alarmed if you hear the outdoor warning sirens Wednesday in leeward Oahu.
The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency is conducting siren tests from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Village Park in Waipahu.
HI-EMA and the Honolulu Department of Emergency Management said area residents may hear short blasts from six to eight times in 30-second intervals.
Emergency management officials will be using the test to monitor the siren's functionality during the three hour time period.
State officials are working to complete a statewide siren modernization project.
Questions about siren tests can be directed to the Honolulu Department of Emergency Management at 808-723-8960.
