HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The Rainbow Warrior basketball team is 1-4 on the road this season and is currently riding a five-game losing streak. But don't think for a second that head coach Eran Ganot and his players have their heads down.
"Handling success, handling failure are challenging in different ways," Ganot said Tuesday afternoon before his team boarded the buses to the airport. "But that's what it's about it. And we're good there. Our teams has a great attitude."
Hawaii (13-10, 4-6 BWC) is in the midst of its worst losing streak of the season and it won't get any easier against UC Irvine (13-14, 8-3 BWC) this Thursday on the road. The Anteaters, ironically, are on a five-game winning streak. But Ganot hopes to snap UC Irvine's winning streak this week after watching his team perform well in practice.
"Talk is one part of it, then it's actions," he said. "They've practiced well, I think that's what's important. And now I think it's about transferring it into the game."
Despite the current skid, the Warriors are just 2.5 games out of third place in the Big West Conference and will look to bite into that deficit in the coming days. Tip-off against UC Irvine is set for 6 p.m. HT in California.
