The Rainbow Wahine softball team debuted its renovated Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium today with a double-header exhibition against Josai University (Tokyo) and split the two-game series with the Japanese side, losing the first game 6-5 while winning Game 2 by a score of 7-5.
The Wahine made some errors defensively in Game 1, allowing Josai to pull away early, going up 4-1 at one point. Hawaii came back once the team got its legs under them, but it was too late in Game 1. But when Game 2 came around shortly afterward, the ‘Bows were prepared to take the field and jumped out to a 7-0 lead.
Josai roared back late in a furious comeback bid to score five-straight runs, but the damage was done as the two sides split the preseason series.
Now that the ‘Bows got their preseason out of the way, they’ll hit the road to open up their regular season this Thursday against No. 19 BYU in the Marucchi Desert Classic, hosted by UNLV.
