NORTH SHORE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A California man died Thursday after an apparent drowning in waters off the North Shore, authorities said.
He has been identified as 56-year-old Lamar Chapman.
Emergency personnel responded at around 2:45 p.m. at an area called Three Tables.
Ocean Safety officials said Chapman was apparently swimming before he ran into trouble.
Paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and later transported him to the hospital in critical condition.
The man was said to be visiting relatives.
An autopsy will determine his exact cause of death.
