HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Make it a fourth-straight loss for the Rainbow Warrior basketball team.
Hawaii (13-9, 4-5 BWC) was upset by UC Riverside (6-17, 1-8 BWC) last night in the Stan Sheriff Center after the Highlanders sunk 10 three-pointers in their 64-60 victory over the Warriors. With the win, UC Riverside snapped its own 10-game losing streak and won its first Big West Conference game of the season.
Mike Thomas led UH with 18 points, coming off the bench for the first time this year. Brocke Stepteau added 11 points while Jack Purchase hauled in a game-high 10 rebounds.
Chance Murray led UC Riverside with 16 points.
The Highlanders won for the third-straight year in Honolulu, but this loss was a big won for the Warriors who desperately needed a win.
But the 'Bows will have another opportunity this weekend to redeem themselves as they hit the court this Saturday against CSUN. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. HT.
