KEEHI LAGOON, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A Hawaii Five-0 security guard is being credited with saving a man's life Wednesday.

Glen Ralston said that he saw an older man carrying trash bags ride his bike into the water at Keehi Small Boat Harbor around 7 a.m.

He and bystanders watched as the man then backed his bike off the ramp and out of the harbor.

But Ralston was alerted soon after that the man rode his bike back into the water.

And that's when Ralston literally dove into action.

"I ran out onto the pier, I couldn't see him it was so dark," Ralston said.

So he grabbed his flashlight from his car, located the man and dove in to find him tangled in the water underneath the bike.

It was Ralston's first day on the job.

After getting the man on dry land, the security officer performed CPR while Emergency Medical Services were called.

The bicyclist was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
