WAIPAHU, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The victim of a Waipahu stabbing has died, and the suspect charged with second degree murder.
Police said 22-year-old Aiven Angei was charged Wednesday for a stabbing that took place over the weekend. His bail has been set at $1 million.
Sources say early Sunday, Angei approached two men outside of a Waipahu 7-11 around 2:30 a.m. and asked about purchasing marijuana.
The victim and witness then told Angei to leave, and things got heated.
Sources say Angei then stabbed the victim multiple times, causing critical injury to the man's chest, back and head. Angei fled on foot and got away. Police and EMS responded to the scene.
The victim was taken to a hospital and put on life support. He was confirmed dead Wednesday.
Angei was arrested around 6 p.m. Monday near Mokukaua St. in connection to the stabbing.
He is set to make his initial court appearance Thursday.
