HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - It was a historic night at the Stan Sheriff Center on Thursday as Sarah Toeaina eclipsed the 1,000-point mark in her career, becoming the 21st player in Rainbow Wahine basketball history to accomplish that feat.
But in the midst of Toeaina's record-setting day, the Wahine dropped their third-straight game against CSUN, 70-58.
The Matadors (11-9, 4-2 BWC) pulled away from the Wahine (8-12, 1-6 BWC) in the fourth quarter to hand the Wahine yet another lost in the Big West while falling four games off .500.
Toeaina finished as the top scorer for Hawaii with 18 points, recording seven rebounds, four assists and two steals. Makenna Woodfolk also made some noise in the box score, tallying 17 points for her fifth double-digit game in her past six outings.
For the Matadors, the conference's top scorer Channon Fluker has a monster performance, recording 34 points with 17 rebounds.
The Wahine finish out the week at home in a rematch with UC Riverside on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. HT.
