Eviction gone wrong leads to 7-hour standoff on Big Island

BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - An eviction gone wrong on the Big Island ended after a lengthy standoff, and the arrest of two people Monday evening.

According to police, the landlord of a home in the Hawi area of North Kohala attempted to evict a couple around 9:45 a.m.

During the eviction, the couple, identified as 27-year-old Lucas Wolf and 28-year-old Britney Wolf, showed resistance and acted aggressively, police said.

Britney then allegedly fired a single gunshot and the landlord called police.

When officers arrived, Lucas was arrested without incident for terroristic threatening in the second degree. Britney, however, locked herself in a parked vehicle where she stayed for roughly seven hours.

As the standoff dragged on, police called in special units for assistance. Britney indicated she was armed and fired two more gunshots, damaging a police vehicle.

Just after 5 p.m., she surrendered and was arrested for terroristic threatening in the first degree. Police later discovered she was heavily armed while in the vehicle. Officers confiscated one shotgun, a rifle, a semi-automatic handgun and numerous rounds of ammunition.

Both Lucas and Britney were transported to the Kealakehe Police Station.

No one was injured in the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at (808) 935-3311.
